The University Medical Centre provides general medical services for students at Plymouth University. The University Medical Centre is friendly and approachable, with doctors who are interested in student health and wish to ensure good physical and mental health during your time at University. General medical and contraceptive services are provided with absolute confidentiality. No medical or personal details are given to the University without your consent.
It operates as one medical centre, however it is run by two sets of doctors and when registering you will be asked to choose which doctors you would like to register with. The two surgeries are Beaumont Villa Surgery and Peverell Park Surgery. You may pre-register online with either practice. If you click on either of the surgery names you will be taken to the practice website, then follow the pre-registration links.
Register early - Help us to help you
Why register early? - You don't know when you may need us. It can take a month for your notes to get to us from your previous doctor. They then have to be summarized onto our computer system. Unfortunately there is no instantaneous electronic transfer yet. When you want you travel vaccinations or repeat medication we need this information to hand.
Why register here? - You can only be registered at one practice at any time. This practice will be responsible for all your medical records. We are ideally placed on campus.
Can I still see my previous doctor during the holidays? - Yes you can be seen as a temporary resident. They will probably still have access to your previous records on their computer but will forward details on any consultation to us to keep your records complete.
What if I'm seeing a specialist? - Still register here and if you let your specialist know you are registered with us we will keep your records complete and easily accessible.
